Sunday’s Site – Bikeways & St. Louis Park

Greenwaysign1

Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day…a perfect day for a bike ride!  Minnesota has more miles of paved rail-to-bikeways than any other state, and one of these regional trails runs through St. Louis Park, not far from where I stopped yesterday to see the progress on what will soon be a beautifully renovated home for some lucky buyer. I should also point out, as is reflected in the trail name on the sign above, that this trail is designated to become the site of an LRT (Light Rail Transit) line at some future point in time.

Greenwaypath1I was amazed to see so many bikers on the trail, and it reminded me of the abundance of Twin Cities Area Bike Trails. With gas prices reaching record highs, biking isn't just for fun anymore…more people are also looking at it as an alternate means of transportation.

St. Louis Park is a first-ring suburb bordering Minneapolis on the west. Dominated by 1 1/2 story homes built after WWII, it is a location popular with first-time homebuyers and has a median resident age of 35.7 years. Its easy access to downtown and the lakes, affordable housing, great schools, abundance of parks, and excellent quality of life make St. Louis Park a great place to call home!
