Sunday’s Site – ‘The Wedge’ of Minneapolis

NOTE: see the bottom of Sunday's Site posts for homes for sale in the area

Wedge-map1 'The Wedge', as the Lowry Hill East neighborhood of Minneapolis is commonly known because of its shape, began its life as a community with the arrival of Thomas Lowry's horse-drawn streetcar line in the 1880's. Its location near the lakes and downtown but on the east side of Hennepin, makes it both trendy and more affordable than neighborhoods around the lakes on the west side of Hennepin.

The neighborhood itself is residential, while the bordering streets of Hennepin and Lyndale are lined with coffee shops, restaurants and bars, small businesses and grocery stores…such as the popular and aptly named 'The Wedge' natural foods co-op.

Wedge-houses2 With a mix of apartment buildings and large, elegant turn-of-the-century homes such as www.2653bryant.com, this area has a higher percentage of single residents and a lower percentage of families with children than other Minneapolis neighborhoods.
