Some tips for First-Time Homebuyers

Here are some tips for first-time homebuyers… do some homework and define your expectations before you start to search in earnest.

  1. Take out a blank sheet of paper and write out your wish list… better yet, go through Finding the Best Place for You.
  2. Recognize that there is no such thing as the perfect home, but there is a home that is perfect for you… signs you have found it.
  3. Get pre-approved for a mortgage so you know how much you qualify for… then budget for expenses beyond PITI (mortgage prinicipal, interest, taxes and insurance)
  4. Consider whether it makes more sense for you to rent or buy… 6 reasons why it can be better to own rather than rent
