I think that condominium living is different enough from house living that it deserves some explanations. Perhaps like no other kind of domicile, a condo experience is shaped by the outside, the inside, and the overall community that shares the space. And here at Twin Lake North, each aspect feels special.

Outside. The first thing that attracted me here is how close it is to everything. Highways 100, 169 and 694 are a stone’s throw away, giving good and easy access to the entire Metro area. But in spite of that, this does not have a closely packed urban feel. Quite the opposite: I feel more surrounded by and connected to nature and wildlife living here than my upbringing in a small northwestern Minnesota town. The grounds are beautiful, and while we all pay a bit to have those managed, there are personal opportunities to garden and clean and beautify if one wants. And of course, the pool is a marvelous thing! But to be nestled by wonderful mature trees and nature trails just outside the door give Twin Lake North the feeling of a lush green pocket of quiet set amidst the larger cityscape.

Inside. From the front door inward, this building gives a sense that is cool and calm yet warm and inviting. The common areas are far nicer and more cared-for than any apartment I ever saw! The underground heated secure garage has been such a comfort, making late nights or early mornings feel safe and pleasant no matter what the season is outdoors. And while the basic floor plan of my unit was nice, the renovations I have done have given the place such an increased sense of open space that it seems to defy condo dwelling. This increased openness has also brought in improved natural lighting. Perhaps this light and air and space has helped pull me out of myself a bit so that I can live more fully in each day. It certainly does not feel like coming home to a dark regimented cave. But the front walk-in closet is my favorite----it is my version of an old-fashioned Midwestern mudroom, but condo-style----very much needed for our wildly-changing seasons.

Community. For me, the pool has been the center of community life here at Twin Lake North. This central meeting spot is by nature conducive to lazy lounging and conversing and sharing with others. I think that, perhaps because of the pool, I have formed far more close attachments to my neighbors here than any other place I’ve lived.

So why leave? A great question! I think it is time for me to turn a fresh page and start anew. I will miss Twin Lake North----a lot. But the light and comfort and warm affections generated here will follow me wherever I go. And my hope is that the next owner will be filled with as deep a sense of belonging as I have experienced.

Welcome home.
